The guidance on the apprenticeship levy was due to be released in June but due to delays blamed on the Brexit vote and government department restructuring there was a delay. According to FE Week the Department for Education has confirmed that the guide, which should outline important details for apprenticeship providers and employers, will be available on Friday.
In April, the government revealed that the additional guidance would cover a range of key areas including:
- The provisional funding bands, which will set the maximum amount of funding that is available for each apprenticeship.
- The provisional level of government support available towards the cost of apprenticeship training if you aren’t a levy paying employer.
It is also expected to confirm:
- The provisional level of the extra payment you can get for hiring 16 to 18-year-old apprentices.
- The provisional amount that will be paid to deliver English and maths training for apprentices who need it.
The specifics regarding how to deliver apprenticeship training and the eligibility rules (including who you are able to spend apprenticeship funding on and where) are also anticipated.
We released initial details of the Apprenticeship Levy earlier this year.
Further updates will be available as soon as the Department for Education releases more information.
