If your organisation, including any connected companies or charities, has an annual pay bill of more than £3 million you will have to pay the apprenticeship levy.
The online system that you can use to manage your apprenticeship funds was launched by the Government yesterday. This service is specifically for organisations that pay the apprenticeship levy and you can use the service to:
- create new accounts
- start, stop or amend your apprenticeship programmes
- spend your levy funds on apprentices (from May 2017)
If you pay the levy and want to employ an apprentice you’ll need to:
- create an account
- add organisations
- link your PAYE schemes
- invite members of your team to use the service
In order to set up your account, you will need to have details of your Government Gateway login details for the PAYE schemes you want to include in the account, as well as details of all organisations that will be making an agreement with a training provider for apprenticeship training. You will also need to work out how much apprenticeship levy you are due to pay, and report this to HMRC for the funds to be credited to your accounts.
