What It Will Cost to host an Apprentice?

SEAC is an Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA) and one of the top apprenticeship companies in the country, recognised by the National Apprenticeship Service and on their national register of approved ATAs. We ensure our costs are competitive and fair and are based around what the apprentice is to be paid as well as how may apprentices you wish to take on placement from us.

As of April 1st 2018 the Apprentice minimum wage is £3.70 per hour.

The new rate will apply to:

  • Apprentices under 19
  • Apprentices aged 19 and over, but in the first year of their apprenticeship
  • There is flexibility if you wish to pay above the minimum wage - we will pay the apprentice as per your instructions
You will be responsible for the cost of the Apprentice's wage.
In addition, our charge to you will cover:
  • Statutory deductions
  • Holiday pay of 5.6 weeks (4 weeks plus 8 public holidays)
  • Service/administration fee
  • A contribution to apprentice training and assessment delivery as required (see below)

We are able to work with both levy paying and non-levy paying companies. If you are a levy paying company you have the choice whether to use your levy fund to pay for the delivery of the apprenticeship(s)* or choose to use the co-funded route via SEAC (As for all non-levy paying companies) – we will advise you as to what the best option for your company is. The charge for the delivery of the apprenticeship training and assessment will depend on the age of the apprentice that you take on placement and the cost will vary according to the apprenticeship framework or standard to be delivered.

We will advise you of this from the outset. The Government will pay 90% of the total funding cap for all apprenticeships funded through the co-investment route. In most cases there will be no charge for apprentices aged 16-18. We will pay the apprentice according to your instruction, however, the statutory minimum wage for an apprentice from 1st April 2018 is £3.70 per hour. SEAC will invoice you for the Apprentice’s wage, statutory deductions as applicable plus our small service fee of 22% based on the apprentice’s wage. E.g. assuming a 37.5 hour week with an apprentice wage of £138.75 the total weekly to your company would be £169 +VAT.

*Up to a maximum of 10% of your total annual fund.
