Ever been interested in learning how to assist senior technical staff in the manufacture of artefacts for use by academic staff and students? This Advanced Engineering Manufacture Apprenticeship in Chatham may be the perfect opportunity for you!

Full training will be provided as you work towards your apprenticeship, your main work duties and responsibilities will include assisting senior technical staff in the following functions:

  • The manufacture and assembly of artifacts and test equipment for use within the School of Engineering for teaching, research and consultancy activities
  • Prepare laboratory equipment for testing of mechanical properties on ferrous, non-ferrous and plastic test specimens. Recording and presenting data generated by computers and other forms of data acquisition equipment
  • Inform the support services manager or team leader of requirements for consumable materials and components for the construction of test rigs and apparatus and laboratory experiments
  • Carry out house-keeping and ensuring security of the laboratory areas to standards acceptable to the support services manager
  • Ensure laboratories and equipment comply with health and safety requirements as directed by the team leader or local safety officer
