An Apprentice’s Exciting Journey

Wednesday 31 July, 2019

When Chloe left school and was looking to develop her life skills and experience, she felt that the 6th form wasn’t for her. Chloe was looking for an opportunity to learn practically and felt that an apprenticeship in Business Administration was a good career option for her.

Chloe applied for a Finance Operations Business Support Apprenticeship position with SEAC to work in a Host Company (Buckinghamshire County Council) in December 2016. She overcame stiff competition to be offered the role. Chloe then spent the next year completing her Level 2 Business Administration apprenticeship and building strong relationships with her team.

At the end of Chloe’s apprenticeship, it was unfortunate that her department at Buckinghamshire County Council were unable to offer her a permanent position, however, through the fantastic reputation that she had built up she was quickly offered an opportunity in another department to do a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship as a Community Engagement Apprentice in April 2018.

Chloe has just completed her Business Administration Level 3 and has been accepted to do a Degree at the Open University to study Law (LLB). Chloe has received fantastic feedback on her performance over the years, not only from her line manager, but also her assessor. We are all immensely proud of Chloe’s achievements, Chloe has grown in skills and knowledge over the last 2 and a half years, but on a personal level has become confident and has so much to offer her future career.

In her own words:

“I just wanted to say a massive thank you for everything you’ve done for me since I started my apprenticeship in 2016. It means a lot to have someone who has helped me get to where I am today and provided the support and help where it was needed on this exciting journey!”

“It’s odd to think that almost 3 years ago I walked into such a big organisation straight from school, and now I’m leaving with such important skills that will prepare me for the near future and beyond. I’ll miss you* (*SEAC Account Manager) a lot, especially our Harry Potter chats!’’

“I have gained a number of skills that will benefit me in the future, this includes gaining a lot of confidence and the skills that will prepare me for the future in working life, as well as a sense of belonging. I feel proud to see where I have ended up, as well as seeing my progress in a learning style that has been tailored to me and my needs.”

“I enjoyed a number of elements from my apprenticeship, including the job itself, the qualification and meeting many new people! I am so thankful for the work my Host Company, my Training Provider and my Account Manager have all put in to get me to the point I am now. I have absolutely loved my role and I'll never forget the opportunity I was given. This apprenticeship has proved I am worth so much and I've loved seeing the hard work I've put in pay off. I couldn't have done it without all the support I have been given and the fact I never stopped believing in myself. I love how everything was on the job and not in a classroom setting. I will definitely take on the skills I have learned to apply them in any future roles I may go into.”
