SEACs Operations Manager conquered Ben Nevis!

Wednesday 4 October, 2017

To mark her 60th birthday Irene decided to challenge herself to complete a great achievement and climbed Ben Nevis in Scotland with her grandson Harry.

Irene describes the climb as “the hardest thing I have ever done and one of the most satisfying”.

The climb up Great Britain’s highest mountain, at a height of 1,345m, took a total of 9 hours and Irene says that she found coming down much harder than going up! Sheer determination and commitment are what helped her to achieve this physically and mentally challenging feat.  A lesson for life!

There is a theme - to mark her 50th birthday Irene completed the Great North Run and is not sure what she will attempt when she is 70 “getting up the stairs may be challenge enough” she joked!
